Eight REDIT (Network of Technology Institutes in the Region of Valencia) Technology Centres are collaborating in the Platform for Technological Innovation in Children’s Environments (PLAiTEC), which will promote the integration of the most innovative technologies in the pre-school educational centre belonging to the Pre-school Innovation Foundation in the Region of Valencia (FII). The centres which are taking part in this project are based in the Technology Park in Paterna and are: AIDICO, AIDIMA, AIDO, AIMME, AIMPLAS, AINIA, ITE and ITENE.

The platform has been created thanks to the Valencian government’s Small and Medium-sized Enterprise Institute Aid Programme for Promoting Innovation, and has the following goals in mind: to identify, define and develop new working approaches in R&D related to childhood environments, as well as carrying out technology transfer activities so as to achieve an optimum environment for the Foundation’s forthcoming early-childhood centre. Likewise, the platform aims to generate awareness in the childhood environment for application in the development of products, equipment or systems having a high added value and real commercial use in the sectors in which the previously mentioned Technology Centres are involved.

Several areas of co-operation have therefore been defined, while taking into account the strengths of each Institute, in order to draw up a Technological Map for Childhood Innovation in the Region of Valencia. The map will bring together emerging Technologies from the Technology Centres and will build a useful tool for defining joint technology transfer strategies between the companies making up PLAiTEC, thereby creating a space for collaboration between Technology Centres, associations and companies in the Valencian Region that have links with the Childhood Environment to encourage competitiveness between companies.
